Things I noted after the horrible trek:
1. NK is dependable, RK is not. Where RK decided to discontinue when we were just an hour from the top after spending nine hours walking, NK decided to stay with the group even though the trek meant so much to him and it killed him to give up the trek when he was totally sure
he could do it even if he was alone.
2. RK is officially the most selfish and the dumbest person I've seen till date. He could walk and was third in line behind NS and K followed by NK, DS and me. But he just didn't feel like climbing anymore. So he decided to go down without considering other people's feelings. I really felt like shooting him then and there.
3. NS is childish. As soon as he realised someone was gonna abandon the trek, he picked up a childish fight with RK using all kinds of emotional blackmailing and stuff and when nothing worked, he decided to take up a 'maun vrat' and walked down straight waiting for nothing
and no one. Or was it ego?
4. DS is afraid of getting rejected for his shortcomings even though he hardly has any. Physical fitness is important for such treks, no doubt, but willingness to reach the top is more important. DS is not that physically fit currently but his mind is very powerful. I think that he completed 16 hours out of the 18 hour trek only because of his powerful mind. But because he was the slowest, he thought he might give up first. Luckily that trophy for Shame belongs to RK.
5. K is very patient. K was back in the trekking scene after two long years. And he was the most excited, even more than me. He took a Sunday off from his work and found someone to replace him at work -- everyone knows how hard that is. You could say it was his comeback trek, which turned out to be a flop because of someone else's performance. I was told that K was unpredictable. And I think by not killing RK, he stuck to his unpredictable nature.
