Mob

It started off as a normal Wednesday, with a visit to Mahim church. Dad and bro went in to pray, and I, as usual, sat in my car engrossed in deep thought on matters of national importance. That is when I was jolted out of my reverie by a crash-bang. An idiot (and please remember, when I say an idiot, I actually mean an asshole) with no knowledge about how to get behind the wheel of an I20, had come up behind my car and banged it. I was uncharacteristically cool. I repeat I was cool, cos I quickly noticed that no noticeable damage had been done, and asked him to reverse his car a bit.
Now, a normal person would have duly apologised and complied. But not Mr Idiot. The man had the audacity to demand that I move my car, as he wanted to park his!
I told him to Fuck off. Politely, of course. Also pointed out that I would appreciate an apology for his mistake and also a bit of gratitude for my letting him go.
Upon which he came up close to me and said, “Kya karega?”
Now ”Kya Karega” is a dangerous thing to say to me. So I took off my floaters, in deference to the deed I was about to commit outside the church, kept them aside and beat him up. His shirt got torn in the skirmish. I didn’t do it on purpose, I swear, it was a bonus. My aim was to only beat him up.
By then a huge crowd had gathered and several hands held me back. I didn’t fight the crowd but he did.
The crowd stopped him and asked him to move his car. Dad and Raju, my younger bro arrived, and looked suitably menacingly at him. Inspired, the crowd too looked menacingly. And several raised voices demanded that he move the car and look snappy about it. He drove off and so did we.
Who says mob violence is a bad thing? :-)
