Generation gap!

I think a generation gap develops because people stop growing mentally
and in outlook once they become parents. It's not so common now but
the number of people facing this problem is still considerable.
I think that one starts learning from childhood various things from
various sources like basic behaviour like anger, culture, manners from
parent or guardians and other things from teachers, relatives and
friends. Then they develop opinion about everything they experience.
And once they become parents, they think that it's time for them to
teach their offspring what they have learnt over the years.
But they forget that they still have many more things to learn because
the world keeps changing and life goes on and you come across new
experiences.
It's good to have opinion but you should keep an open mind so that
when you experience new things that challenge your opinion, you need
to change too.
And when one refuses to change, maybe because one is stubborn, maybe
because of one's ego, one becomes outdated.
But the children will learn new things from outside, where they meet
people with open mind, people with new experiences to offer, with new
lessons to teach. So they become advanced in the way they think, in
the way they see a certain situation.
I think you might've gotten my point.
The only solution to this would be to keep learning, improving. Learn
with your children, maybe not to change yourself but atleast to
understand their points of view clearly.
